Welcome from the Head of School
Thank you for visiting the Eden Christian Academy website. Whether you are here for a first look or serious research, we are honored that you are interested in discovering how your child will learn and grow at ECA. Choosing the right school for your child is a sacred decision. We consider it a privilege and honor to assist you in your search for God’s will for your child’s education, and we are happy to give of our time and resources to help you assess whether Eden might be the right fit for your family.
You come to us at a remarkable time! Many schools have faced insurmountable challenges in implementing distance learning plans, including insufficient technology, decreased attendance and engagement in virtual platforms, and interruptions to learning that lasted up to four weeks. We are grateful that this has not been the case at Eden Christian Academy thanks to the strong partnership that exists between our parents and our faculty. When all K-12 schools in Pennsylvania were closed due to COVID-19, our students were engaged in remote learning within days of the announcement. As we near completion of the fourth quarter, they are progressing through our curriculum remarkably well. ECA administrators are diligently working alongside our exceptional, dedicated faculty as they lead the charge in implementing the remote learning plan. Working together in a spirit of unity has made all the difference.
Although we all wish we could be together, our parents have been impressed with and thankful for Eden’s remote learning. Here’s just one of the many messages we’ve received:
“I really appreciate the teachers’ dedication to continue to pursue excellence in spite of the challenging circumstances. My boys are working in every subject, Facetiming friends during lunch, interacting regularly with their teachers, and are being challenged appropriately. The teachers’ willingness to change and adapt their styles of teaching and methods of delivery is impressive. That is a true teacher. They are demonstrating that they are fulfilling a calling in such a time as this. I know that it is tiring and exhausting for them and many of them are maintaining home responsibilities as well. Please express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation.”
Our dedication to our students and families and our commitment to providing an exceptional education that engages the heart and mind of each student to think and act with Christlike character is unwavering and is finding new ways of expression in the online and distance learning format. Necessity is the mother of invention, and God uses trials to refine us. We are a stronger and more agile faculty because of this experience.
Our parents tell us that the value of an Eden education is the powerful synergy of Christ-centered teachers and curriculum, a passionate pursuit of wisdom, and a loving Christian community working together to equip students’ hearts and minds for discipleship in all of life.
Eden’s authentically and distinctively Christian philosophy and curriculum is time-tested and consistently results in our students fulfilling their scholastic potential. Our more than 670 students score above national averages on standardized tests, with the class of 2019 SAT average well above the state and national averages and with two students scoring perfect 800’s on the SAT math section and six scoring above 1400 (94th percentile). The Class of 2017 advanced four National Merit Commended students, and to date, Eden has graduated five National Merit Scholars and eight National Merit Commended students.
The student experience at Eden is enriched through the arts, athletics, clubs, and outreach activities. Whether in intramural sports or in one of our WPIAL and PIAA athletic programs, the Mad Science club or our Mock Trial team, the choir or the pep band, all students have the opportunity to fully engage in our spiritually formational school life.
It would be a pleasure to learn more about your family and to assist you in your search for the right fit for your child. While, we are unable to host campus tours at this time, we can still connect to answer your questions and to provide virtual resources for you to review. Please let us know how we can serve you.
For Our Students for His Glory,
Paul Q. Fisher, Head of School
